I'm taking 12 - 18 months away and pushing on creative projects. Here's where you can keep up with them.
I did it. I’m doing it? I’m taking the next 12 - 18 months off of work to focus on illustration and jazz saxophone. I’ll be the first to admit that these are two modest pursuits of mine, but I’m curious to see how these back-pocket skills can act as a means to explore craft, art, and creativity.
What’s it look like to develop skills in a medium while also finding a way to use that medium for personal expression? How does it feel to carve out my own unique perspective without the constraints of client-driven work? After having spent much of my career trying to manage the creative process, what’s it look like to instead be an active, exposed, and fleshy human participant in it?
I wholeheartedly acknowledge the privilege that allows me to dedicate the time and space for this endeavor. It's a rare opportunity, and I'm committed to making the most of it.
You can keep up with the whole bit here.
